Emerging Ideas.

Understanding generational trauma helped me understand the patterns I felt stuck in. Learning the stories of my mother and grandmother educated me on my own thought patterns and beliefs.  My past and my families past is always with me regardless of my consciousness and knowledge. It oozes out of my choices, actions, and passions.

The ancestral discoveries I have made over the last 3 years I want to share, and I want to discover more beyond my own family. How many African American families have heirlooms? How many have had art exhibits honoring the ones history have forgotten or overlooked yet they have made waves within their family. This is a universal truth; family history and knowledge affirm who we are. However, African American history and Native American history have been purposely erased. I want to find and cherish every story I can that brings to the light the power of someone, the places they made sacred ground simply by being.

My emerging work is to raise up stories of people and place; inspiring others to honor their ancestors, learn their history and create ceremony and ritual to keep those stories alive.
